Play: ANY Play from 46 Bear (I prefer either Sam Snake or Cover 1)
Playbooks: 46
Setup:
Step 1. Re-blitz the RDE, DT, and LDE
Step 2. Stack the SS (on the LOS) between the RDE and DT as close to the LOS as possible
Step 3. Blitz the SS down
Step 4. Stack the MLB between the LDE and DT as close to the LOS as possible
Step 5. Blitz the MLB down
Step 6. Slide the RCB (left of screen) out to the left 3-4 yards
Step 7. Put the RCB on a QB Contain assignment
The two main runs you need to worry about this year are the FB dive and HB Toss to the left. The HB Toss to the right does not work well, so do not worry about that.
Now as for the FB Dive, we will have one of three players (DT, SS, or MLB) shoot the gap every time and hit the FB before he can get going.
As for the HB Toss, we have it defended by steps 6-7.
Also you want to manually play on your FS and clean up, especially against the toss. You will have tons of hit stick chances with the FS on the toss because the RCB will force the HB to cut back inside or get tackled for a loss, leaving you with a chance to lay the RB out with a hit stick and force a fumble.
Final Thoughts:
Having a deadly hit stick is key to run defense. If you can lay a good hit stick on the offense frequently you can scare them away from running the ball. Make sure to sub in your best hitters in the FS and RCB positions for this run defense. You can do this at the play-call screen on the fly.
