Play: Quarter Normal- Under Smoke
Playbooks: ALL
*Note* Use the LB Pass Rush package with this play- make sure you get your fastest LB at RDE (left of screen)
Setup:
Step 1. Call BNR
Step 2. Grab the MLB and stack him on the DT's left hip
Step 3. Playmaker the DT to blitz straight down
Step 4. Grab the blitzing NB (left slot DB on the screen) and stack him directly on the RDE's (left of screen) left (as looking at the TV) hip
You want these two players to be touching
Step 5. Playmaker the LDE (right of screen) to perform a QB Contain
Step 6. Place the S guarding the RB into a deep zone
Step 7. Manually control the blitzing Quarter back and play in coverage
Optional Steps (Adjustments)
1. If the offense slide protects to the left- Do not perform steps 5-7. Perform steps 1-4. Then place the blitzing Quarterback on top of the LDE's (right of screen) left leg (as looking at the TV)
When you perform this adjustment, the blitzing Quarterback will come straight up the right side of the offensive line untouched.
With the default setup, the RDE (left of the screen) shoots through the left B Gap untouched every single time. He will literally be in the QB's face within one second. The QB cannot roll out because of the QB contain on the left side of the field.
If the offense tries to use a bunch of different slide protections, different defenders will come through untouched. If they slide protect down, the blitzing DB's will come untouched. If they slide protect up, the blitzing MLB will come through. If they slide protect to the right, they must be dumb because it will come even faster from the left. Finally if they slide protect left, use the adjustment.
Final Thoughts:
This blitz brings extremely fast heat, but it is not an every down blitz because it can be run on. Also the left side of the field could be beat by slant routes because man coverage gets beat easily by slants this year. Because we play manually in coverage with the Quarter back, we can drop into zone on either side of the field to take away these quick passes. If you have enough time, you could make this into a zone blitz to take away the quick slants.
To do so:
1. Put the FS and SS in deep zone coverage
2. Put both outside DB's in yellow zones
3. Control the Quarterback and cover the middle of the field
