Gun Snugs Flip: PA Eagle Seam
Play:
Gun Snugs Flip: PA Eagle Seam
Playbooks: PHI and West Coast
Step 1. Send the RB a slant to the left
Step 2. Motion the RB to the left
Step 3. Snap the ball once the RB passes the outermost WR on the left side of the field
The thing that really caught my eye about this play was the dual delayed flat routes that are run by the slot WR's. First, you cannot blitz this play because the delayed routes will block before releasing into their route. You could slide protect down with these delayed routes and get max protection. Secondly, once they do release into their route, they are wide open. Run it against a cover 3 and you will see that the flat zones do not cover these routes. Throw a bullet pass led to the sidelines and get easy yardage.
The only way to stop these routes is to use cover 2 and manually control a flat defender. If someone does this, hit the motioned RB. His slant out route will destroy cover 2.
You also have the seam route and the hook route. Both of these routes are zone killers. The delayed flat, hook, and slant out on the left side of the field just abuse zone.
Man coverage? Don't even try it. The flats are wide open as is the RB on the slant out.
